BLEDISLOE CUP Visual 090902

The Bledisloe Cup is contested between Australia’s Wallabies and New Zealand’s All Blacks…Wait, who are Wallabies and All Blacks? What sport? It is rugby. Do you know rugby? It’s not that famous and popular in the U.S…what a shame. In my opinion, rugby is the most exciting sport in the world. I’m not gonna explain about rugby so please click the link above if you wanna know about rugby.

Anyways, so every year, Wallabies and All Blacks play 3 to 4 games a year and the team with more victories will gain the cup. In 2008, for the first time in history, they played out side New Zealand and Australia—Hong Kong. The purpose was to promote rugby in Asia as well as to generate extra profits from the game. This year, they decided to have the last game in Tokyo on October 31st.

When I was playing rugby in middle school, watching a game between the Wallabies and the All Blacks was impossible—unless you traveled all the way to Australia or New Zealand. Now, my childhood dream came true—except that I was not there to watch it!! Que lastima… I truly wished I was in Japan at that moment. The All Blacks won over the Wallabies 32-19.

Japan will hold the 2019 Rugby World cup. It was a great opportunity to test the ability and capacity to hold such a world-class rugby game for Japan too. I hope I will be able to see some of these games in live soon!!
